A word from Kyra, the 'Lord of the Rings Sauron' costume creator:
I made the costume entirely from scratch. I'm wearing it in all the photos. This costume is from Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and it's Sauron (as his armored form, not the Eye). I used a thermoplastic called Worbla as the main medium, and a whole host of other materials to make it. I constructed, painted, detailed, and wired the entire costume myself. It has orange EL wire running under some of the plates of the costume, so in the dark it lights up and gives off a sinister silhouette effect. The mace is about 4 feet long, and has a 3/4" PVC pipe as the base. There's real 4 in 1 chainmail underneath parts of the costume, using anodized aluminum jump rings. The costume in total cost about $650 to make.
