Maizie the Corn Cob Costume

For Halloween this year we decided to dress up our daughter, Maizie, as a Corn Cob (for obvious reasons)! She looked pretty a-MAIZE-ing, don't cha think?!

I found the fabric for the corn cob on sale at Jo Ann's and picked up a yard of green felt as well. I found a tutorial on Pinterest to create the pants and thought up the chest piece myself. Believe it or not, an ear of corn is not that popular of a contest so I couldn't find too much online to base my costume design on. I really wanted the chest piece to have the texture of kernels, so I stuffed it and sewed it in segments to create the bumpy look. I added strings on the side and a snap on the top to make it easy to pull on and off. For the husks, I cut and glue felt together, cut arm holes and added string similar to the chest piece. For the bow, I just ties a few pieces of straw around a headband I already owned. The shoes came from Amazon!

I was so excited to create this costume this year and Maizie got so many compliments! The name tag I created really pulled the whole look together, especially when they put two and two together! It was a last minute add on and had my husband and I rolling in laughter!
