A word from Abigail, the 'Mermaid' costume creator:

Abigail is wearing the costume, the idea came from a quilt I saw with a mermaid with rainbow scales. Use a fitted stretchy skirt, and cut out strips for scales in every color of the rainbow. Finish fold over the edges and finish with mighty mend it craft glue.

Materials used: silk, shear ribbon, purple trim, shear pearlized fabric, pearls, real shells, plastic starfish, acrylic paint, perfect pearls blue metallic paint, sequence, blue rhinestones, beads.

It took 4 months to gather materials and create.

Nice! Is that a sand dollar necklace? I love the colors. The mermaid is pretty too! And is she wearing a sand dollar ring? Cool! I want sea shell shoes!!

Great job on the costume. I like how you put a new spin on the typical mermaid style. Great rainbow of colors and cool shell shoes.

This costume looks better than even a professional theatre mermaid costume. Everything is sparkling and glowing. I LOVE THE BACK of the tail and I love the trim on the top

This is so pleasing to the eye. I like how you used rhinestones to represent bubbles. And how it is wavy on the end of your tights

Truly divine. What a masterpiece. I want this outfit to wear everyday. great necklaces too. I love your ring! I didn't notice it at first but after a closer look I saw that it was a shell

This is the best mermaid costume I've ever seen. Usually they are really tacky and not very detailed in the store. It is so clever to turn your legs into water

Very nice. I am a little worried that you are not under the sea. You might suffocate. Or is that just a costume? Either way, great job!
