A word from Katrina, the 'Medusa' costume creator:
My 9 year old daughter Rowan had been reading the Percy Jackson series and wanted to be Medusa for Halloween. Since I make her costume every year, I took up the challenge. We purchased shiny gold and green fabric that looked like it had scales and turned it into a toga, to which I added a few stitches so it wouldn't come apart at school! We found some snake accessories to sew on to the toga and wear as jewelry. The headpiece was made from some kind of tubing we purchased at the craft store which I wound up and hot glued together. Then I glued on lizard heads (couldn't find snakes!) attached to pipe cleaners inside a few of the ends. A little face paint and makeup along with curls and green hairspray completed the look!
