A word from Cathleen, the 'Ferris Bueller' costume creator:
M brothers favorite move is ferris bueller's day off. So he wanted to dress up as him for halloween. We went to goodwill and bought a women's leopard print top, men's gray pleated front pants, a pair of Oxford shoes ( they were brown). From there we bought two widths of ribbon at Joann fabric as well as some black buttons and fusible hem tape. At a car supply store we bought matte white spray paint. To make the costume I coughs the shirt onto a similar vest as the one ferris where's I then added the ribbon along the edges with the hem tape and an iron. I used the larger ribbon along the bottom of the shirt and used hot glue to glue the buttons down the front of the shirt. We put the brown shoes on a lare cardboard piece and spray painted them white. The paints needed no work and my brother had his own white t shirt.
