A word from Janyce, the 'Sully and Mike Wazoski' costume creator:

My boyfriend and I, Brett and Janyce, has been brainstorming costume ideas together for a while but we couldn’t decide what would be the best for us! While browsing through costumes at the Halloween store, one of the costume ideas we talked about was Mike and Sully (as the store had some mike and sully costumes ). We liked the idea but I wasn’t going to purchase the costumes as it’s more fun to be different, original and creative. As we continued through the store my creative juices started flowing and then voila…I spotted a long, White, fur jacket and knew that it would be a perfect start for a Sully.and once Brett tried it on we knew that was it!! Our mission began!

Brett’s Sully Costume:
Supplies needed: white fur jacket, white faux fur (enough to cover jogging pants with leftovers for tail (Micheals), light green sweatshirt and jogging pants, 3 bottles of synthetic fabric dye (RIt Dye in teal blue), devil ears (costume store), head band ( $ store) , blue monster feet slippers (Amazon), 2 cans purple fabric spray paint (Michael’s), blue hair paint ($ store).

How we did it:
- We dyed the fur jacket and the white faux fur according to directions on the fabric dye.
- after it was dry and washed in mashuneb we cut faux fur to cover jogging pants and used hot glue gun to attach the fur to the pants.
-we cut out circles stencils out of cardboard to use for spraying the purple fabric paint in the circles all over the fur to make Sullys spots
-Using remaining faux fur, we cut a cone shape and hot glued the seams together then stuffed the tail with cotton fluff. We then attached the tail on the back of the fur jacket with safety pins.
-we cut the devil horns to suit Sully’s horns, painted them silver and hot glued them onto head band. Then we covered the rest of head band with the blue fur scraps.
- Brett spray painted his hair blue and then I slightly tinted his face with some blue eyeshadow to give it a blueish tone. Voila!

My Mike Wazoski costume:
Supplies needed: Neon green one piece bodysuit, neon green long sleeve top and neon green puffy tutu (I was very lucky to be able to match the colors and all found on Amazon), green tank top, devil ears (costume store), headband ($ store), black poster board, white paint, large googly eye (Michael’s). Tupperware take out container, cotton fluff, old lime green tights, neon green tule fabric (Michael’s), green monster slippers (Amazon).

How we did it: hardest part was finding the right clothing to wear that was tight, covering my arms, legs and body and all same neon green color. (Back up plan would have been to purchase white tights and dye them neon green).
- painted the horns and glued them onto my head band and then covered the remaining of headband with the green tule.
- sketched Mikes mouth on black poster board and cut it out then painted his white teeth.
- I cut a small hole in each side of mouth and looped some tule into each side
-I filled the Tupperware dish with cotton fluff then I used a pair of old green tights to wrap the container in and tied the tights in a knot so the container was solid in shape but green in color.
- I hot glued the googly eye onto the green covered container.
- I made the eye lid by gluing some pieces of the green tights that I trimmed and the neon green tule onto the eye.
- once I was dressed in all the green clothing. I tied the legs of the old green tights around my waste with the knot at the back keeping the eyeball on my waist I’m the front and then I tucked the tights and the knot into my tutu. I decided to do it this way to make using the washroom throughout the night easier. 😜
-I then took the two pieces of tule that were attached to each side of the mouth and tucked it into my tutu as well so that the mouth of Mike hung below his eyeball!

Great, creative costumes from head to toe! It shows you put a lot of effort into these. And I'm impressed w/ the level of detail Janyce put in the description for any DIY'er who wants to do something similar in the future. Nice work!
