Ryuk Costume

This year I really wanted to do something different, I wanted to transform myself in a way no one would recognize. I'm always inspired to do a take on characters that inspire me. I ended up settling on a Japanese death god, or shinigami, from the manga "Death Note", named Ryuk. It seemed like a fun challenge especially since I look nothing like this character. From head to toe leather, i crafted corset like pants & sew the shirt out of different pieces from scratch. I then had to order chicken feathers for the shoulders & glued them on in many many layers. There are almost 50 feathers on the costume. I then had to scuplt the belt buckle & book holder embellishment with clay. Then it was painted & covered with a wash to replicate metal. Even had to make the belt from scratch. Make custome glove to make my fingers look lonnng & pointy. Finally added a lace front wig, styled like his & make up. It was a labor of love but I am very happy eith how accurate it turned out to be.
