This homemade costume for couples entered our 2022 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Kelly, the 'Ren & Stimpy' costume creator:

My husband and I first met on stage during a Halloween costume contest. Fast forward 10 years and we are still costuming together. We have never seen anyone dressed as Ren & Stimpy, so we decided to go big for 2022. I was Stimpy and my husband was Ren.

Here's what was used to make Stimpy. Hot glue was our friend!

Torso: Cardboard Curved/Cut into Shape, Paper Mache, Red and White Fleece Fabric, Eggcrate Foam inside the body for comfort.

Nose: Paper mache from a small balloon, joint compound wet sanded, a layer of acrylic gesso, blue acrylic paint and pieces of black foam "paper" for nostrils

Ears: Cardboard, Paper Mache, Red Fleece Fabric, Pink Cotton Fabric

Eyes & Mouth: Cardboard cut to size, Paper Mache, Black and White foam "paper" cut to shape

Tongue: Cardboard cut to shape & curved, Poly-fill, Pink cotton fabric, black foam "paper" fabric.

Belly & Butt: Poly-fill to create plumpness and roundness

Hair: 3D Print Plastic melted and stuck into place

Arms/Legs: Red long sleeve shirt and stretchy pants

Hands: White Cartoon Hands bought from an online retailer

Feet: Old Shoes with red fleece fabric hot glued over it

Outlines: Black foam paper fabric

Here's what we used to make Ren:
Body: Nude colored skin suit

Feet: Old shoes, painted to match, Black foam "paper" to create toes.

Head: Paper Mache over a Balloon, joint compound wet sanded to create smoothness, a layer of acrylic gesso, painted (that had been color matched at Home Depot from the nude skin suit). Inside the head was a hat and egg create foam glued in for comfort.

Ears: Poster board cut to shape. Paper Mache to create strength, Hot glued and papermached to the head. Pink cotton fabric cut to shape and hot glued into place.

Eyes: Foam Ball cut in half, paper mached and smoothed out with joint compound, wet sanded to create smoothness and a layer of acrylic gesso. It was white already, so no need to paint the eyes. The veins in the eyes were drawn with a red fine tip marker. The pupils were made using foam "paper".

Nose: Had to integrate a way for my husband to see, so we cut the hole by the nose for Ren. Nose was made with paper mache and bended 3d print filament.

Mouth: Cardboard cut to shape, cheesecloth under paper mache. Teeth were white foam paper cut to shape, teeth lines were black foam paper cut to shape and all hot glued down.

Eyebrows/Wrinkles: Black Foam "paper" cut to shape, hot glued down.

Hair: 3D print filament melted and stuck into place

And last, but not least, we had LOG!!! I have a foam roller that I use for my back so we used that as a prop. We found wood grain fabric at the store and cut/hot glued it into place. It was super easy.

All and all, these costumes were a LOT of work and we probably put 50hours, at least into it. I would say we spent about $120 total for the costume. It was all worth it!
