A word from Danielle, the 'Lil Miss Ladybug' costume creator:
This is my 2 1/2 year old niece who's Birthday is on Halloween!!! She wanted to be a lady bug for Halloween after I had a bright idea to make a few tutu's for my newborn daughter.
The headpiece.... is a black headband that I wrapped black pipe cleaners around to make the antennas stand up. I cut out 4 red felt circles and glued red and black pom poms to two pieces of felt and glued the other two pieces of felt to the back hiding the pipe cleaner and adding more support.
The wings.... I searched all over town trying to find a pair of red wings and much to my surprise I COULD NOT find them anywhere. SOOO... I took light pink wings I found at the Dollar Tree bought a red poster board and I traced the wings to size cut them out of the poster board and I hot glued them to the pink wings. It was great that with the pink so light and gluing the red poster board on you couldn't tell the wings were pink anymore!! I then took red and silver glitter glue and made my own unique design just to add a focal point to the back of the costume!!
The body... I had a red petticoat I had been storing away and it had black buttons on the front (where we live it is always so cold on Halloween) so i figured it would be perfect but you could use a red jump suit, long sleeve onesie, or red sleeper!!! You can also add black pom poms to show your polka-dots.
The bottom half is a red and black tutu i made out of tulle and a black crocheted headband a simple no sew tutu!!! add black leggings and your done!!!!
Put it all together and BOOM!!!! There's Lil Miss Lady Bug!!!
