A word from Jake, the 'Harlyn the Elephant' costume creator:

We present to you Harlyn the Elephant!!! This is my 9 month old son Harlyn. This is his first Halloween celebration. My wife loves Elephants and when we started thinking about Halloween we wanted to do something special for him and dressed him up as an Elephant. My wife came up with the idea of turning a wagon into a circus wagon. So I bought him a new wagon and started planning on how I was going build the circus wagon. Everything I used was purchased at the hardware store. I spent 6 days building his wagon. I used 2x4 lumber to build the frame of the enclosure. I then took 1/2 inch pvc pipe and then used a forster bit to drill holes to place the pipe to look like bars for the enclosure. I then took 1/4 plywood and used a paint can to make the curved edges on top of the wagon. I then took a string of red and white Christmas lights and drilled holes to place the light bulbs on the face of the board to hid the wires. I also placed lights through the roof to light up the inside of then wagon. I used a inverter for my battery pack from my drill to run the lights. We painted the encloser and my wife did the letters by hand with glue and gold glitter. I put the wagon to the test on uneven ground to ensure the wagon was not top heavy and safe before pulling my son in it. It was perfect. I made the enclosure to set down on top of the wagon and lock into place with out modifying the wagon in any way so we could still use the wagon in the future. The seat we used is a feeding chair for toddlers. We placed a very comfortable felt blanket over the chair and ran the seat belt through the felt to secure my son in the chair. He loved riding in his wagon.

Everything was handmade in my shop at home other than the wagon and the lights. The wagon is an all terrain Radio Flyer and the lights were purchased at homedepot. The cost of the build was around $335. The wagon $110, lights $25, lumber and plywood $65,screws and nails or nail gun $20, pvc pipe $25, paint $30 & power inverter $50. costume was $10 and bought from an individual on marketplace.

To top everything off I placed my bluetooth speaker under his seat and played circus music while pulling him around the neighborhood. He danced all night and waved at everyone. He was one happy boy.

If anyone ever builds a wagon like this I highly recommend sanding all edges and covering all screw holes with putty to ensure safety for your child from splinters or anything that could harm them. I throughly inspected the construction of the wagon and tested the durability and balance before use.

Harlyn the Elephant thanks you for reading about his wagon.
