Fairy Goddess Costume

My 20 year old daughter is wearing the costume. I got the idea thinking up ways to light up her surroundings. She has an eye disease and does not see well after dark. I wanted her to be able to see the candy and people’s faces if they got close. Fairy lights was the easiest and cutest way I thought. Many materials were purchased from the dollar store including flowers, hanging terrarium, beads and floral wire. I created a cardboard cutout to set on top of my daughter’s wheelchair tray so we could just set it on top and store it. The moss is applied with spray adhesive. I made the mushrooms on the sides using “baked cotton”. Cotton and glue were applied to the backside of a mini cupcake tin and baked at 250 degrees until dried out. Then I painted them. The mushrooms in the middle are made from hot glue over fairy lights. The branches are real from a tree in my yard. The fairies in the trees are made with a wooden bead, floral wire, yarn hair, and flower petals from the dollar store. Her wings are electrical wire and material from a goodwill tutu.
