A word from Brittany, the 'Edward Scissorhands' costume creator:

My son, Christian, is wearing this costume. He is 2.5 years old. He loves the movie Edward Scissorhands. Haha I know, odd for his age, but he first saw it when he was 1.5 years old and sits through every bit without moving! So this year, since he still watches it so quietly, we decided he would be Edward! We made the entire costume! We bought the smallest black faux leather jacket we could find, cut up gothic/punk belts we found for super cheap ($3) at Forever 21 on sale and glued them on the jacket. The pants I could not find in boys, so we used toddler girl leggings and did the same as with the jacket. I bought toddler girl boots at Target, as I could not find any boy ones, but they worked perfectly! For the hands we got black girls costume gloves (lol they need to make more stuff for boys!), we painted plastic knives with a silver metallic acrylic craft paint and taped them on the back with black Gorilla duck tape as that brand holds the best. I watched youtube videos for the makeup, but ended up just winging it, the video did give me a good idea as to where to start. Using a white face paint I mixed it with my own light ivory foundation (the lightest you can find if you don’t have any). I also used eyeshadows I already had - black, dark purple, dark yellow, dark brown/grey and orange and blush pink. We blended it together until it looked good. Prior to application of the foundation I used purple and green concealer all over the face, covered it in the purple and used the green in shadow places. I then used regular root touch up spray for his hair (as he wouldn’t wear a wig) and then we had Edward! He loved it and kept it on all night, even the gloves! I do recommend practicing with the makeup a couple of times, just so you can play around until you find the technique and colors you like. We did not do scars as he wouldn’t set still, but had I had time, I would have just drawn them, the scar wax was hard to use at his age. I also had dark, dark purple lip gloss. During a practice run I applied som to just the top and bottom middles. He was done with the makeup the night of, so we didn’t get to wear it. It was super cute tho!
