A word from Grace, the 'Nacho Libre' costume creator:
My husband and his coworkers were going on and on about the movie "Nacho Libre" and quoting it on a daily basis. So while my husband was deployed that Halloween, I thought it would be a nice surprise to dress my son Rorek up as Nacho Libre, the Mexican Luchador. I shopped around for a warm, cotton, long-sleeve shirt in a tan color to represent Nacho's naked chest and so that Rorek wouldn't be cold while trick-or-treating. I sewed the cape onto the back of the neck-line that way we wouldn't have to fidget with tying and untying the cape throughout the night. I also found blue cotton pants and then sewed on glossy shoes and patches on the knees. A good tip is to sew the shoes onto the sweats as if they are a footed pant-set because the first time he wore them the shoes kept falling off. I took regular shoelaces off of an old pair of shoes and poked holes into the boots and laced them in. It originally had the mask but a finicky toddler doesn't appreciate anything covering his face for a long period of time. I bought the curliest fro wig I could find and drew in a thick mustache with liquid eyeliner (we tried using a sticker mustache but he just ended up yanking it off). We always try the costumes out on a grocery trip that way we can get all the bugs out of it and adjust it to make for an awesome Halloween experience. Don't forget to "save [him] a piece of that corn!"
