Blue Bird Costume

It's for my 5yr old Paysen she loves birds and her favorite color is blue. I started with an old tank top of mine and took it in to fit her like a slip. Then I took black tulle and tied it to a headband making a tutu. I sewed the tutu onto the slip. All of that material I already had which cost nothing but a few hours of my time. I bought 300 feathers thinking it would be enough. They ended up costing $30 and being the tiny multi color ones at the top of the dress. So I bought 600 more simple feathers for around $20 which filled the wings. The wings were just cardboard with feathers hot glued on. So I ordered 1200 more feathers of the same 4 colors for $40 and started to hot glue them to the dress at first then to each other which helped give it the shape. Her make up was blue and black eyeliner. And her hair has 2 different colors blue spray in it, $3 each. The makeup idea was from her she love face paintings at carnivals and wanted one for Halloween, that was the closest I could do. The faux hawk we did for crazy hair day at school and she wanted to do it for Halloween bc everyone loved it. So all in all everyone loved the costume and it was about $100 mostly cost in feathers (more than 2000), and about 12 hours work to make but totally worth it to see her face light up.
