|Costume type:||Costumes for Girls|
This homemade costume for girls entered our 2012 Halloween Costume Contest.
For my eighth Halloween, my costume was very unique. I was a horse! When I told my mother and great grandmother that I wanted to be a horse, at first they opposed. They opposed, not just because they were unsure where to even begin in creating a horse costume, but because they wondered why a girly-girl like me would want to be such a "strong" and "masculine" creature. I turned them around, though, when I explained that I did not want to be real horse. That would be ridiculous! No, I was to be a "carousel pony". Well, that was all the convincing they needed. They bought a black bodysuit, sequins and feathers. They made the sequins into a harness shape, which they sewed onto the bodysuit. They glued the feathers onto the center of a headband, to complete the effect. The costume came out very well, even though when I went trick-or-treating, most people had mistaken me for an alien...
