This homemade costume for boys entered our 2011 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Sara, the 'Buddy the Elf' costume creator:

My son is wearing a homemade "Buddy the Elf" costume. The costume inspiration came from his blonde curly hair.

The costume was sewn together. A fleece green coat, white fur trim, yellow leggings, hat, belt and elf shoes made from black felt. We've never seen another "Buddy the elf" and we had a lot of random people asking for pictures with him! Adorable :)

Any chance you'd be willing to make another to sell, or we could rent this one for a family Christmas photo?

I was wondering the same thing! Any chance you would make another or sell?

Thanks for your interest ! :)
This is still my favourite of all our family/child costumes.
Unfortunately I won't be making another costume this year. We just brought a newborn home.
Not selling at this time, as we've got two younger siblings than our original "Buddy the Elf."

Cheers ! :)

Any chance we could pay you to borrow it and immediately return? I'd cover the shipping both ways. We are expecting twins so I thought it would be fun to have our 4 year old son dressed as Buddy and the twins as regular elves since he'll look so much bigger. I wanted to take a picture and use it as our holiday card and baby announcement. We are located in Southern New Hampshire. Twins are due in December. Thanks for considering! Sarah

Did you use a pattern, and if so, which one? Hopefully the pattern comes in different sizes if you used one. I was planning on altering and making my own pattern, but it would be so much easier if there was a pattern already. My 27 year old son is going to be volunteering at the local Santa's house and wants to be dressed as Buddy the Elf

How did you do the gold detailing along the center seam?

I noticed most comments were from last year
Any chance you would make a costume to sell for this Halloween? 2014?

I am also interested for my 4 month old son. Not sure if you are selling or creating these at this time. Congrats on your expanding family!

I am going to attempt to make this myself! Fingers crossed!!

Lauren:

We had one made; the gold brocade edging makes all the difference! It looked quite boring without it. For an adult it was ~$20 worth of material, and our tailor sewed it for $50. So worth it!

Hi I know this post is a few years old but can you tell me where you got the fleece coat? I am trying to make one for my son for Halloween this year.
Thank you so much!!
