Khaleesi Mother of Dragons Costume

My favorite show on tv is the game of thrones series and my favorite character is the Khaleesi, Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons. The idea for my costume came about because I love the G.O.T series and I binge watch it like nobodys business (lol) but especially because I truly am a "dragon mother" to one Amazing, Devilishly Handsome, and very, VERY large Male Iguana named Khali with alot of personality.

I handmade my entire costume, both the custom daenerys targaryen dress that i am wearing but also the dragon wings that my lovely boy is flaunting in the picture.

The dragon wings were made by gluing a frame together first, using thin wooden dowels I cut and bent the flexible dowels into place and then covered them over with a fabric i found that was a reptile scale print on a faux leather material.

I also painted the tips and edges of the wings to match the beautiful orange fall color that my Iggy is proudly displaying. Then i sewed the wings onto my Iguanas harnass to keep them secured to his back.

The custom daenerys dress that i made was not as easy to make as i thought it was going to be.
I used a bra as the top, made a few alterations to the straps etc. Then i cut and sewed the sheer blue fabric into the top and then twisted and pinned the fabric into the bottom of the dress.
I either hand sewed or used a hot glue gun an to apply the gems, jewely, beads and chains.
Lastly i added the long platinum blonde wig, which i styled myself as well with one of the many long, signature braided hairstyles seen worn by daenerys targaryen in the show.

The two costumes were ALOT of work. It took me forever to finally finish them. I worked really hard and i am super glad that i did come up with this idea for a special combination costume with my very unique pet. When we went out in public dressed up, we turned so many heads. People could not believe what they were seeing. Asking "IS HE REAL!? OH MY GOD!!!" Khali had many fans and made many new friends and,had a blast doing it. The hard work i put into this,was well worth it to share with everyone just to see peoples reactions! It was awesome.
