This homemade costume for couples entered our 2014 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Michael, the 'Lego Couple' costume creator:

Myself (Michael) and my girlfriend (Kelley) wearing the costumes.
All homemade from 12" concrete form tube and styrofoam cylinders for top of head and top round disc piece, soft foam on inside for cushion, all hand cut and painted.
Hands were made from cut up chooses and use yellow rubber gloves.

Total cost was about $100 for both costumes

Inspiration came from my love for lego's as a kid.

Just wondering what "cut up chooses" are for the hands and what kind of paint did you use!

Ah sorry that was a typo "koozies" that hold cold cans for the hands and used krylon yellow spray paint

Where did you get the sweatshirts from?

#4 comment by Christina September 30, 2016

I need these sweatshirts!!

#5 comment by Michael October 2, 2016

Sweatshirts were hand made. Bought sweatshirts at target or Walmart and created a stencil and painted the logo.

What did you use to cut the concrete form and was it difficult?

#7 comment by Cindy October 24, 2016

Hi! Did you paint the faces on?
Did you use a dremel to cut holes through foam tube?

#8 comment by Valerie October 27, 2016

What did you do to make the cylinder heads shiny. I tried spray paint but it's taking a couple coats

The Concrete form tube is cardboard, used a utility knife to cut them and drew on the faces and used knife to cut out the eyes and mouth. Painted the faces on used white spray paint for 2 primer coats and then yellow kyrlon paint about 2-3 coats.
Faces I used acrylic paints with a brush for fine details.

Just wondering if you'd be willing to create these for me and sell?? Thanks!

My boyfriend and I are pretty artistic, however I'd love for these to be duplicated as thorough as possible. If you are willing to recreate both, I would be more than happy to reimburse you for the costs and your time!! Hopefully you see this!
