Zero Nightmare Before Christmas Costume

To go with our Jack and Sally costumes this year I decided to dress our daughter up as Jack's dog Zero. To build the mask I bought a styrofoam wig modeling head to have a base to build on. Then I bought a simple plastic mask to sculpt onto. I took crayola model magic and wire and sculpted the nose, mouth and ears. To make the glowing pumpkin nose I put layers of liquid latex on a toy pumpkin, once its was built up nice and thick I tinted the latex orange for the last two layers. I then used baby powder and a brush to release the latex from the toy. I then put inside of the pumpkin a battery powered Tlight to get the glowing pumpkin nose. I then hot glued wire to the bottom of the Tlight to make a skewer to push down into the top.of the nose to hold it on. I then sprayed the entire surface with a varnish then used an airbrush for the details and then did one final seal with the varnish. To make her costume I took a backpack and cut the back out keeping the construction of the straps. I then took care board and used it as a base to hold the wire. The wire was necessary to hold up the fabric to give the zero floating look. I then draped in white cotton fabric and then white tulle over that.
