This homemade costume for women entered our 2017 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Nelli-Jeanne, the 'Xayah' costume creator:

This costume is handmade and worn by Nelli-Jeanne of Quaiit Cosplay. From top to bottom the material and process will be explained:
Hood: Purple fabric with silver vinyl, handsewn together for a comfortable and easy fit.
Ears: Faux fur that is cut and wrapped around a thin piece of rubberized EVA foam and hand painted with pink paint for the color gradient.
Bird skull: EVA foam crafted together to create the skull, then Plastidipped, primed, then hand painted for the rustic look. The rope through the eye of the skull is real 1/2 inch rope.
Dress: The dress is sewn from a dark pink fabric, and everything is free-handed. The dress was then cut with "battle scarring" and then the ends were sewn. The dress has an 18-inch zipper in the back for easy removal when done being worn.
Arm Gauntlet: Crafted from EVA foam, then added details of rubberized foam and craft foam. Then plastidipped, primed, then airbrushed pink, handpainted silver with slight battle damage to the silver.
Shoulder/Back Feathers: By far my most favorite thing to make! The feathers are cut from 1/2 inch EVA foam, and then the sides are sanded down for a clean look, They were then Plastidipped, Primed, then painted purple. Once the purple dried, pink was airbrushed on the ends for a nice gradient look. The final painting details were the white highlights. On the underside of the feathers, they feature the same fabric from the dress, to conceal the EVA foam.
Leggings: The leggings were sewn from a purple fabric and then slits were cut in the pants to give the imitation of leg wraps.

Please look carefully at the details and enjoy!
