Venetian Pirate Maiden Costume

I was watching a new trailer for The Pirates of the Caribbean movie and was inspired to do a medieval pirate but I look at a lot of the prices for similar costumes online and thought they were ludicrous!

After a bit of research and happening upon Venetian carnival videos on YouTube, I was inspired to make my own and the rest is history.

Every bit of the costumes thrifted and the only solid piece is the shirt that I bought for $2. The corset area is half of an old dress that I cut, and every other piece of the costume is made from three sets of drapes purchased at a thrift store for $15. All supplies accessories trim details and fake pearls and rhinestones were also thrifted and the total cost of the dress with the glue gun and glue sticks that I purchased is put it together is just under $35.

I can't sew, so there really isn't much of a method to my madness. I just kept adding on and made marks on my body wherever I thought things could go and glued them there or cut them from that area. It was a really fun project and made me realize just how far creativity could go and how much money you can save by making your own costume!
