The Simpsons Family Costume

We love to do a family costume or theme each year. My son went through a stage of liking his hair spiked and we joked that he looked like Bart Simpson and that sparked our idea for our costumes this year! The hair on all, except Homer, is made from egg foam crate, cut and sewed, then spray painted the appropriate color. Homer's hair is a yellow swim cap with black pipe cleaners glued on. The eyes are reading frames from Dollar Tree with the lenses popped out and a cut-in-half styrofoam ball hot glued on. I punctured a round hole in each so that we could see and then colored it in black to look like the pupil. I inserted wire and painted it black for the eyelashes on the females. I gathered all the yellow I could find from second hand stores and then dyed the remainder stuff yellow that I still needed. A little yellow face paint, accessories ordered online (Lisa's toy sax, Homer's Duff can holder) and we are ..."The Simpsons".
