The Makeup Queen Costume

This idea was derived from my imagination and expresses my real life like of make-up! I love wearing make-up, definitely lipstick, and eyeliner, and what better way to express my inner costume character of a makeup queen. She has a hair full, skirt full, leggings, gloves and a mirror that is plastered in nothing but makeup, samples, lipsticks, eyeshadows, blushes, foundation, oh, and nail polish plus more of her favorite items!

How I created this: I already had a black leotard pink leggings, mirror, bra, gloves, necklace, suspenders, shoes, and the gold belt. The tutu skirt was purchased and given to me from my mom. When I saw it, I thought and later decided it could be used to piece together this character.

I simply gathered around items and accessories I already owned and painted then hot glued mainly empty or slightly used make-up pieces to my tutu skirt, gloves, leggings, mirror, belt, necklace, suspenders, wig, shoes, and bra. I also glued and added on paint and glitter to my accessories and tutu skirt as well.

I went out, purchased and spray painted the blonde wig. Lastly, I hand- sketched and drew on mascara, eyeshadow and etc for the face makeup all while using my actual makeup items and google search as a reference for the shapes, shadings and where to add detail as I was drawing.


I received lots of compliments, stares, and smiles. They said I looked cute, creative, pretty.. and one lady said that it was "Amazing"! I was also asked did I do this myself I replied "Yes". and my sister said I looked like Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga!

There was even a man that I think was so shocked, he seemed to pretend he didn't even see me! he didn't give me any eye contact as I was talking to him in regards to my dog at all; as I was running after my dog that got out and ran across the street his property.

This was absolutely too much fun! I loved, loved, loved putting this together! The make-up mirror which was decorated with make-up, glitter, nail, and cabochons was made and used as her prop so she can always check and see if her makeup remains intact and monitor lipstick touch-ups.

This is definitely my Inner-cosmo play type character self! I can and must say and she would absolutely agree with me that the Makeup Queen RULES!
