The knife Thrower's Assistant Costume

This costume is a DIY original made and worn by Megan Brockway. She designed this costume for a "haunted carnival" themed costume ball she was invited to.

Her initial idea was to go with her husband as an evil knife thrower and his assistant, but covering herself in fake blood wasn't appealing, so instead she decided to create the famous spinning wheel from old side shows that the assistants are attached to.

She cut the wheel from 2 inch insulation board purchased at home depot, and painted it with a big red star. She drilled holes along the edge and attached Edison bulb LED lights. The difficult part of the costume was getting the board to spin, this was accomplished by attaching the wheel to a lazy Suzan with steel ball bearings and attaching the other end of the lazy Susan to a backpack type harness made from a small square of insulation board and velvet straps which were tied around Megan.

The rest of the costume was purchased as individual pieces and includes a striped corset, tights, a circus style skirt, leather boots, and a fascinator hat.

Megan did the hair and make-up herself.
