The Addams Family Costume

I always like to do family costumes and since The Addams Family movie came out this year we went for it! My daughter really enjoyed being in character for Wednesday (she is taking after her mommy!) and my son's (Cousin It) long thick hair kept him warm in snowy, freezing Chicago weather. The most time-consuming costume to make was obviously Cousin It. I bought lots and lot of yarn and used hot glue gun to attach to elastic. I made one for the waist and one for the neck and then attached the rest to the hat. I used velcro on the elastic so he was able to just wrap around his body and secure.. I purchased a hand for The Thing off Amazon and used strong velcro to attach to a thrift store suit jacket. Wednesday's cute octopus bag was just made of out felt. Cousin It's cane was made out of styrofoam that I painted. I added some black pieces of fabric to a black dress I already had for Morticia and vintage buttons on a black dress for Wednesday and we were ready to go! Total cost approximately $70.
