Struck by Lightning Costume

We are “struck by lightning” couples costume! My boyfriend is the lightning bolt and I am “struck by lightning”!!
For the lightning bolt we found a large cardboard box and drew a large lightning bolt on it! We cut it out and then cut out a hole for his head to fit through! Size of bolt is big enough to fit his body length and width! But still manageable to wear for the evening! We covered it first with a layer of cotton matting then some yellow fabric which we got from the discount section of fabric store!
We used staples to keep this together and it worked great! He wore dark clothes and some dark sunglasses!
The girl struck by lightning was simple as well! Regular black skirt and tank top and boots were worn! I bought a blouse from thrift store and cut holes in it and used black charcoal and blackened around the holes to look like burn marks! I also made ask marks on the blouse with charcoal! One sleeve of blouse I cut right off and charcoaled the edges! I cut up a black umbrella and carried that with me! Hair was back combed, teased and messy looking! Regular makeup with charcoal smudges on face, neck, chest and legs! I carried the charcoal in my purse to use to freshen up as the night went on! We won the costume contest for best couples costume and had a lot of compliments that evening! Very simple and very low cost!
