Ruth Bader Ginsburg Costume

My daughter, Sasha, is dressed as the honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I chose this costume as a way to honor the life of an incredible, trail-blazing woman and to teach my the children about her legacy. The one thing I bought was a black oversized t-shirt for $2.50. I pleated the front and put a few stitches in to hold the pleats. I found a pattern to crochet RBG's iconic collar and adapted it to fit a 2-year-old. Sasha does not have very much hair, and what she does have is super fine. I slicked it back as much a possible with some hair gel. I made her bun by wrapping yarn around a piece on cardboard and clipping it to the tiny pony tail of Sasha's actual hair. I used double-sided tape to stick pearls to her ears. I made the black mask and used iron on material to make the, "I Dissent" letters. I had to stitch the frames of the glasses (which we borrowed from a friend's dress- up bin) to the mask because they slid down on the fabric. A toy hammer acted as her gavel to finish off the look. Unfortunately, we didn't see many people on Halloween this year, but she got rave reviews from the pictures! RIP RBG
