A word from Lori, the 'Rosie the Robot and George Jetson' costume creator:

My husband and I decided to dress as the Jetsons for Halloween. He made the head for Rosie using a box. He cut cardboard circles in the size we wanted and then wrapped the box around the circles taping as he did on the inside and leaving a space for my head. We determined where the cutout needed to be for the mouth and verified that I could see through it. The mouth was plastic cross stitch screen painted black. We used reflectors for the eyes and placed them on black velvet craft paper. The antennas included red blinking balloon lights which worked perfectly. I sewed the collar, apron, and cuffs for Rosie. I covered wood circles with a red sparkly fabric for the buttons. The hands were foam cut to look like robot hands worn over gloves that we dyed blue. The boots for Rosie were foam worn cut to wear over my shoes. I wore a black skirt with a blue shirt to complete the costume. For George Jetson I sewed a collar and attached to a white jersey type shirt. I made the belt and we secured it with Velcro in the back. George had boots with space rings which we made by painting metal rings black and gluing them to a pair of white rubber shrimp boots. George had a red wig that was cut and styled by a friend to mimic the character’s hair. We had so much fun watching people react to our costumes.
