A word from Ghazala, the 'Queen of Hearts' costume creator:

I am wearing this costume which I made myself! This was for world book day and what a day that was!! I have always loved to explore different creative ideas.
So here goes....
Wig- I got lots and lots of polystyrene packing peanuts( normally gree) painted them all red and using hot glue stuck thrm onto a tissue box cover ( felt material ). Working outwards making the heart shaped wig. The crown was a plastic cup painted with metalic gold paint and cut to look like a crown. Easily attached with hot glue.
Dress- Black velvet material for the bodice and just cheap red material for the dress. The gold bit of the dress was a thick material ( normally used for curtains) this material was also used for the sleeves. Over the sleeves is a black net fabric. The hearts were individually made using felt material and using gold glitter I painted them to give them that little bit of sparkle.
The staff- Empty foil roll and emtpy white labels roll all painted using metalic gold. This was all glued together along with the pipe cleaner and diamonds and pearls ( from the £ store) .
Ring- Felt heart shape with pearls glued on around the edges. This was all attached to an old ring I had using hot glue!
The tights- Old pair of leggings with the spades/clubs cut from felt all stuck down with my precious hot glue.
Under the dress I wore to luandry pop up laundry baskets attached to a belt to give it that proper look!!
Finally lots of make up! Main thing getting rid of those eyebrows?? Glued them down using normal school glue stick. Worked a treat!!!
