Queen of Hearts and Mad Hatter Costume

This is my six year old daughter Luna and her mini horse “Sassy.” We love Alice in Wonderland. Luna has no siblings so we have to be creative if we want to do a costume theme. That means getting pets involved sometimes! Both Luna and Sassy’s costumes are made entirely by hand. Luna’s dress is tulle fabric and her head dress is several decks of cards and a piece of tag board and some ribbon. Sassy’s bow is also made of fabric and tag board to retain the shape without the bow being too droopy. Her pants are also fabric that Velcro together at the top. I do not know how to sew so this has all been done using a combination of hot glue and tying things together. If you plan to recreate a costume like this for a horse or maybe for a large dog, be prepared to get a funny look from the fabric store when they ask you what the fabric is for!
