This homemade costume for boys entered our 2015 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Jennifer, the 'Porcupine' costume creator:

My son loves wild animals and wanted to be a porcupine. I made him a cape like costume out of black and silver fur. I cut black foam strips for quills and painted them with white stripes. I attached them with nylon thread and when I ran out of time, hot glue. I picked up a mask at a local costume store and attached quills to it. He wore black sweats and sweatshirt underneath the bodysuit cape thing. It was a big hit, but most importantly, my son loved it and felt like a gigantic porcupine.

Can you show me how you created the cape fur body you sewed the quills to?
Or just an idea of how to recreate it?

I basically just cut a cape and I think we tied it at the neck. I can send you a pic if you want to contact me. jenx67 dot com is my website with contact info.

What did you use to make them stand up straight? I am using foam sheets, and they are a little limp...thanks
