A word from Chynna, the 'Pinup Skunk' costume creator:

I got the idea for this costume while watching Bambi. As soon as Flower came on the screen I resolved to transform myself into that sweet, adorable skunk! I'm also obsessed with vintage and burlesque, so I wanted to put that spin on the look as well.

The swimsuit I sewed the fur pieces and sequin trim onto was vintage from the 1950s. I got it for a steal at $5, because the back was damaged, but I knew it would be covered up anyways. The tail took a few trial and errors, but I ended up cutting out a pattern of the shape, sewing the pieces together, stuffing with polyfill, and shaping wire around the inside edge to get the perfect curve. From there, I attached wire wrapped elastic cord to the metal frame that I would tie under and around the halter tie swimsuit top to hold the tail up. I attached a sturdy belt around the base of the tail and cut slits in the back to the swimsuit to have it sit at my waist. The perfume bottle prop was an old whiskey bottle from the thrift store. I used tubing from the hardware store and fabric to create the atomizer. The vintage style hood I had custom made by a professional costumer, but I added fur and pink felt/rhinestone details. With Covid this year, I of course had to make a matching mask which was done with felt and Swarovski crytals. I bejeweled absolutely everything I could, the gloves, perfume prop, body suit, everything! 😆 Overall, I was in LOVE with how everything turned out!! I wanted the tail to look cartoon-like, and I think I achieved that effect through the size and shape perfectly. This costume was such fun to wear, many people asked for pictures and just marveled at all the sparkle 🤩 No stink bombs from me, all glamour and roses this Halloween! 🦨🌹
