Peacock Costume

I created this costume from scratch. I started with a blue corset "dress" with a tiny tulle skirt. I embellished the entire bodice with blue feathers one at a time. Then I used blue feather boas and added to the front of the skirt for more coverage. The back was made from several different layers of tulle strips in peacock colors. Then I added in some real peacock feathers of different lengths. For the tail I wove feathers of different lengths into a mesh base. I sewed the different lengths onto a ribbon and then added some sparkly blue foam in the back to hide the mesh, along with a little more of the boa. I wove a strand of fishing line through the layers so I could pull it up and down. Total cost was about $100 although I had lots of extra supplies so it probably could have been done for less.
