Party Pooper Costume

I love to come up with unique costumes and seek inspiration from almost anywhere. I saw this idea on a funny t-shirt. It was a stick figure on a toilet with a party hat, and a balloon that read party pooper. It cracked me up and I knew I had my next costume idea. I wanted to create the illusion of actually sitting on this. I made a frame with 2x2 wood and added casters to the 4 legs. The bowl is a laundry basket, the seat a styro wreath, both of which are covered with vinyl upholstery. The tank is a cardboard box covered with the tackiest shag fabric I could find. I added toilet paper, renuzit air freshener and a flower arrangement to the tank. I added a koozie to the seat to hold my drink. I covered the frame with black fabric. I had a shirt printed with Party Pooper on it and added a skirt to hide mechanics. The most important part to create the illusion was figuring out how to make realistic looking legs. I made various sized poster board cones for feet, calves, and thighs. Put them into nude tights one at a time starting with the feet and stuffed them with poly fill. Small styro ball duct taped to foot, and then angled the calf/shin, taped that and stuffed it, larger styro ball for the knee taped and then added thigh angled to sitting position taped and filled. After each leg was done I added shoes, socks, and underwear. I added fishing string to the shoes that I held in my hand so I could move the legs adding to the illusion. I made this the perfect height so I could stand in it and walk around appearing to be sitting. It worked great because several people thought I was in a motorized dressed up wheelchair. I had a blast!
