A word from Chelcey, the 'Norse Warrior' costume creator:

This is my D.I.Y costume of a Norse warrior woman named Hildegunn Graves....i love everything viking, norse you name it.....Hildegunn is a Dane warrior who fights amongst the best of warlords....protector and leader of her tribe and village....crushing whoever gets in her way.........the outfit is made up a basic black half length sleeve shirt...a black maxi skirt and a cape with a fur collar from my goth days (i believe i got those free)..under the leather corset (scraps from other crafts) i am actually wearing a waist training corset that i wear for spinal support (70 bucks)...the old axe we had and my husband and i spent 3 hours braiding string to wrap around it...i attached 2 feathers also (more leftover crafts)......i simply tucked the left over piece of leather for the corset into my proper corset then wrapped the braided string on top of that for silouette and detail....the best i made from canvas scraps, theres a faux tail,a bag,a tankard and a "bloody" rag attached to the belt (all free bits and bobs).....the headpiece i made from more craft stuff and a pwndant that was being thrown away....i made a wire circlet and wrapped with with string,i then attached the pendant with a leather cord and wrapped that around the rest of the headpiece to make a knot at the back....i had a bobcat tail and i attached that to the side...also there is a feather in the braid....the fur gauntlets are ethically sourced rabbit furs cut to size and wrapped again with braided string to keep them on.....the necklace i made from old beads and antique jewelry that i had.......this outfit is slowly evolving and i have 2 version of it for the same character for different occassions.
