This homemade costume for women entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Leah, the 'National Geographic Afghan Girl Cover' costume creator:
I have always loved this iconic National Geographic Cover, so I thought I would try to replicate it. I have made many costumes over the years and this one was by far the easiest to make and the most popular.
I got a yellow poster board, cut it into a frame. At the top I put a transparent sheet of film and added vinyl stickers for the wording. Then added a string I hot glued to the sides on the back of the frame so it could hang from my neck. A maroon scarf and some make up, and that's all there was to it.
