A word from Heather, the 'My Best Side' costume creator:
I was inspired by my twin daughters to make this costume. While they are usually 'joined at the hip', they are as opposite in personalities as hot and cold. One twin cares very much about appearing as the 'more beautiful sister', but secretly envies her sister for her flawless and effortless good looks.
This costume was made with one $10 bottle of liquid latex; a standard balloon; a roll of one-ply (non-textured) toilet paper and some recycled paint from a used paint by numbers kit. I inflated the balloon and coated with latex. After the latex dried, I laid a layer of toilet paper onto the sticky residue, and then repeatedly poured the latex onto it to form layers, allowing to dry in between. I popped the balloon and removes from the dried base head mold, and built features, tucking and adhearing to shape it like a skull. After shaping, I painted my 'twin' to appear as though I jealousy cut her beautiful face off. Next, I got matching wigs at a thrift store and modified a shirt from the back of my closet to fit both heads. The twin is held on with liquid latex and mounted directly to my left shoulder, to allow full interaction and use of the left arm.
Reactions to this costume were shock, excitement and amazement. I was asked 'how did you do that/ make that? How is it held on?'. My answer to onlookers was, we don't know what you mean.
