A word from Miranda, the 'Sub Zero' costume creator:

I have always wanted to make my own costume. I was playing mortal combat (which is one of my faves) I was playing as sub zero and my son was playing as Scorpion. I got the idea of doing a female subzero! I looked around on the internet to find one feminine enough for me to wear, no luck. I thought to myself, why don't I just make it myself I have the skills (not really). So I look up reference photos that I can have as my guide, I thought about quitting this costume 2 times. I am so glad that I stuck with it because it actually turned out pretty awesome! The mask is a mesh paintball mask that I bought off of Ebay. I made the mask design out of craft foam and then just glued it to the mask. The main blue part of the costume, I made out of a blue jersey type fabric. I cut that into 4 parts and then just sewed them together. I also made a hood (made it look more mysterious). The silver pieces are made out of polymer clay, baked them and then after they dried, I spray painted them and glued them to the costume. I bought a black lingerie type bodysuit for under the costume. The belt, shin guards, and the arm guards are all made out of craft foam. I stacked 3 sheets together, cut out the design and weaved blue ribbon through to hold them to my body. The shoes are just black heels inside of thigh high socks.
