Moana the Voyager Costume

My daughter is wearing a handmade Moana's Voyager scene costume! Moana was her first movie and she fell in love with it, so I decided to make her a costume for her to wear for years to come. This costume is made to fit toddlers to young children (18m-5y) as it has quite a bit of stretch to it.

It's handmade and hand sewn. The base is a red, children's halter top cut in 4in (bottom) and 6in (top) segments. It's decorated with fabric leaves of varying colors (some hand painted), small white shells and some brown dyed yarn. The grass skirt is made from 2 grass skirts of varying lengths sewn together, with the bottom of the shorter grass skirt dipped in red paint. The flower headband and anklet are made from red elastic (similar to halter), along with leaves and on the headpiece small satin flowers with a pearl bead center. The leave skirt has a rectangle of cotton fabric behind it which I sewed the leaves onto.
