A word from Emma, the 'Mirror Mirror on the Wall' costume creator:

We get compliments on our sweet 2 year old all the time, on how sweet and cute she is. I thought of all the characters I remembered growing up that Snow White was the fairest and kindest, and I loved her dress. So we based our costumes around her. I also thought that since she had a little brother who was disrupting her life by joining our crew, that having him be the apple would be appropriate. :)

I sewed the Evil Queen costume and Snow White dress and bow out of fabric I bought at JoAnn Fabrics. Snow White only cost me $12 to make. The Queen costume was a bit more with all the fabric for the cape and long sleeved dress. I purchased an apple costume, but it came as a strawberry, so I ripped off extra greenery on the headpiece and neckline and sewed a new neckline to the baby apple costume. My husband and I worked on finding a frame we liked that wasn't too costly, but we ended up making it out of a basic photo frame, Styrofoam, paper maché and two layers of heavy plastic sheeting. We put tubing around the frame and punctured holes in it to try to drive dry ice smoke through it to create smoke between the sheets of plastic and come out the mouth hole. But the pressure wasn't there from the ice, so we purchased a small portable fog machine last minute for effect. I bought a paper mask at the craft store and also paper machéd the mask around the angry mouth and high eyelids. I painted the mask with acrylics. We think our Snow White group turned out fun for trunk or treating! My daughter didn't want to have anything to do with her dad in his costume, the face really frightened her.
