Medusa and her Victim Costume

This is my originally designed Medusa and stone solider costume . I researched these costumes online for about a year and I didn’t see one that I liked . I couldn’t find one that looked like the Medusa I wanted to be . So I set out to design an original look . I used a red wig ... ( I haven’t seen and red head Medusa’s but I love it ) I attached about 25 rubber snakes that I hand painted to a metal head piece . I weaved the wig through the snakes and metal head piece . My wig weighed 10 pounds ! I then set out to design her outfit . I saw a painting of Medusa once that inspired me to go with a steampunk look . The top is a corset paired with a high low steam punk skirt . I wore black lizard leggings . I hand painted my body and face and put in fangs .

I designed my husbands costume to compliment mine. I hand painted his costume using black , grey and white acrylic paint. The aryclic stiffened the fabric giving it that perfect stone look. I hand painted his boy and arms and used a little latex and tissue to deepen the crack on his head. He wore white costume contacts. I love our original look !
