A word from Jennifer, the 'Mario Kart' costume creator:

This year for Halloween, My friends and I decided to be Mario and Luigi. I was Mario and she was Luigi. With my Mario costume, I built my own cart like the one Mario uses in the game. Every year, I love going all out for Halloween so I decided to make my own cart since for the costume, I just bought it at Spirit Halloween.
The cart took a while to make and put together but it was all worth it. There are some minor details that I'm missing that the actual cart has but I'm proud of what I have.
The cart is made of PVC pipes which is the main support structure of the cart. The wheels are just styrofoam wreath from Michael's Arts and Craft. The back wheels are the large wreath and the front are the medium size ones. All I did was take black spray paint and spray the wheels. The disk part of the wheel is made of card board which I spray painted gray and hot glued them between the wreath. I wanted the wheels to be able to move so I got wooden sticks from home depot and glued it to the end of the wheels and placed inside the PVC pipe. I made the steering wheel the same way as the wheels. I used a small thin wreath spray painted black attached to a wooden stick placed inside the PVC pipe.
The rest of the cart is just made of cardboard. The bumper is made of cardboard, the side of the cart is made of cardboard and so is the engine box. For the side of the cart, I wish I had more time to work on it so I could finish some detailed designs like the original but it still turned out awesome with the checkered part. The straps/seat belts are made of ducktape.
Overall that is mainly it for my cart. For a cart made of cardboard it turn out really good. I hope you like my costume, especially my cart. I'm happy with my costume!
