Mariachi Boy Costume

My 11 year old son, Jarrett is wearing his diy Mariachi costume. We came across "The Three Amigos" movie poster and thought this would make an awesome costume idea. I found a pink sombrero hat at our dollar/party store and spray painted it black. I bought a red scarf for the necktie and cumberbund, and black jacket at Goodwill. The jacket was too long, so I cut it waist length and hemmed it, along with shortening the sleeves. Jarrett had a white shirt in the closet, and I found black jeans in our hand-me-down bins. Then, armed with a bottle of white fabric paint I decorated the hat, jacket, and pants with Mariachi inspired designs. Add an old violin and Jarrett looks ready to make some toe-tapping music on the plazas of Mexico!
