Mama Imelda and Hector Costume

Our costumes were inspired by Disney's movie "Coco" and the characters Mama Imelda and Hector. Everything from our costumes was homemade, even down to the stitching in the dress and the glitter on the jewels. Mama Imeldas dress was handmade and hand sewn. We purchased materials, made some measurements and started sewing. Although we purchased a wig, we did hand style it ourselves and that was one of the most fun parts of the costume. For Hector, a lot of painting of the clothes was involved. We wanted to make his jacket and pants look as cartoon like as possible so we took some old clothes, some paint and created our masterpiece. The guitar is completely hand made as well. We used cardboard, string and small pieces of whittled wood to make the whole thing and then paint of course. Both costumes cost under $50.00 to make and we had so much fun in the process!!
