A word from Courtney, the 'Maleficent' costume creator:
My daughter Alena had her heart set on being maleficent right after we saw the movie! I used a stretch velvet for the dress which I made the patten for myself. Also the collar is made with wire and the velvet. The horns wets my favorite part! I sculpted them out of model magic and covered them worth electricAL tape. I used a swim cap to help holds them straight on her head. The staff is just a dowel rod covered in tape worth a painted Styrofoam ball glued on top. I ended up spending about $100 but that includes her professional makeup application.
