King Fergus and Queen Elinor Costume

Imagined as a newlywed couple, I created costumes for King Fergus and Queen Elinor from the movie Brave. Although the tartan is not the same from the movie, it uses the pattern of my own ancestors from Scotland. I made the kilt and sash out of old pajama pants, the cloak from a furry blanket, and the shoes from old tennis shoes and strips of fabric. The sporran and shirt were purchased. For the Queen, the dress was purchased but altered in the sides and shoulders to fit better. A longer hem was added with black fabric as well. The wig was bought but added to with braid-in hair to make it longer and thicker. It was then styled with a fishtail braid and tiara. The belt is handmade from the Philippines and brown boots were purchased.
