Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons Costume

This costume is home-made and worn by makai johnson. I was inspired by daenerys targaryen from game of thrones. I wanted to make a costume that drew from all of her past outfits and combined them into one. This costume consists from a full body armor piece inspired by the quarth chest piece. It is made out of rubber place mats (the intricate leaf ones only sold during the holiday season) that I then cut into the desired panel shape and then trimmed in hot glue and connected with hot glue. I then painted the glue to look like an aged welded metal. I also pulled from how danny wears pleated calf length skirts, pants, and boots throughout the show. The skirt, pants and boots are all thrift store finds that i painted and aged with acrylic paint. Finally, I handmade all three dragons (baby drogon, viserion and rhaegal). They are tinfoil skeletons, covered with a homemade toilet paper paper mache paste and finally painted with mod podge and acrylic. The dragons' wings are made out of trace paper dipped in mod podge. This costume took about 6 months to make and cost under $100. I found myself with some extra time and material, so also made some battle armor for my dog. My hair is dyed white already, so I braided it for the costume.
