iPhone Costume

Costume type:  Costumes for Boys
Category:Halloween Costumes

This homemade costume for boys entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Kimberly, the 'iPhone' costume creator:

This is my 8 year old son! I make our costumes every year and this is the one he chose!
When it was all done it was soooo COOL! Lights and all!

What you will need for this costume:

  • Cardboard box that will fit your body
  • 2 pieces of black foam board
  • Silver duct tape
  • Black duct tape
  • Silver spray paint
  • Hot glue and glue gun
  • Printer to make app icons and the silver apple on the back
  • Battery operated white lights

I started this costume by using the black duct tape to cover the box that the body is going to fit into. I wanted it to be shiny that's why I used black duct tape and not spray paint.

Then I cut the black foam board (found at Staples) to what I thought looked like the front and back of an iPhone. Used silver duct tape to line the edges of those.

I went on google found all the app icons that he wanted on his Iphone costume and saved them to a jumpdrive, took them to Staples and they blew them up and printed them on a glossy paper. We then carefully glued all of those onto the front. On the back of the costume it has the silver apple and the iPhone logo.

Under each icon I made a small hole so that we could stick the battery operated small white light bulb through (the light is right above the name of each app) the foam board.

When that was all done I just hot glued the front and back to the box and cut a small hole in the top so that he could fit his head through.

We added a Verizon gift bag that he also used for collecting his candy :)

Everywhere we went everyone was like "Ohhh,Ahhhh! It really lights up!"

This is cool. I woulda added a black screen with a low battery life for a much "scarier" effect. But this is an awesome costume.
