Inspector Gadget and Penny Costume

My partner is a total techie, and I always call him "Inspector Gadget"- so this year we decided to give this costume a shot! He is Inspector Gadget, and I'm Penny. I'm proud to say that I handmade 90% of the costumes pictured... with a whole lot of acrylic paint, hot glue, and patience. The hat/helicopter is topped with a real working siren, that I made using an LED light, and a transparent red solo cup. The Go-Go-Gadget arms are made from silver painted wooden sticks, stuck into styrofoam balls (also painted silver), and topped with stuffed yellow rubber gloves. The arms clipped to the jacket from the back, and each hand was holding an item; a magnifying glass in one, and a police badge in the other.) I also made Penny's computer-book out of an old hardcover book, I cut a whole in the pages and kept my iphone tucked in it the whole night. We picked up the wardrobe pieces at Value Village, so all in all, both of these costumes ran us at around $75. It was definitely a hit with everyone we saw- more than one person commented that it was "the best costume I've ever seen in my whole life!"
