This homemade costume for boys entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Liz, the 'Edward Scissorhands and Frankenweenie' costume creator:

This is my 5 year old son Indie dressed as Edward Scissorhands and our dog Rose dressed as Frankenweenie. I actually started the costume on Devil's night and finished it from start to finish without a pattern in 36-48 hours!! VERY proud of this one!

Guess I should add that I used vinyl from a fabric store and belts & accessories from Ardenes. I made patterns up by having my kid lie on the vinyl to get measurements and just cut & sewed. Cut up the belts and hot glued them onto the costume. I had my friend do his makeup and she matched each scar from a photo of Johnny Depp. I did his hair with spiking gel & hairspray. For the scissorhands I used magic mittens and spray painted plastic knives that I electrical taped onto them. For Frankenweenie, we glued neck bolts from a human costume onto her collar and permanent marker for the rest.
